    So, what about the setting?

How important is setting to you? How much, in your opinion, does setting impact a story? I mean, can you take a tale set in Europe and transplant it to Antarctica and get the same effect? Of course not. The setting is about more than the clothes the characters wear; it is more than a mere backdrop for events. I mean, in Texas we have cowboys and in Australia there are rugged farmers. In the Cape region of South Africa, we have vintners who love their wine. So, when you check the setting of a book, you know what type of hero/heroine you are going to get. So, my question…

    Arranged Marriages

Did you know: arranged marriages account for an estimated 50% of all marriages around the world. That is a staggering number. What is the reason for arranging marriages instead of allowing people to fall in love first?  And who does the arranging of these marriages? Normally the family arranges the marriage, as the parent are wiser and more experienced in what qualities/benefit a marriage needs. So they choose, but the bride and groom have the option to refuse.  Moreover, most arranged marriages are happy, believe it or not.  Statistics – I adore stats! – prove this. Only around 6% of arranged marriages end in divorce. By comparison, more than 40%…

How can a bride be haunted?

How can a bride be haunted, I hear you ask. Her wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest days in a woman’s life. So, what ghost would be audacious enough to come and put a spoke in her wheel?  But this is no ordinary wedding, and Holly no ordinary bride. You see, the man she is marrying is a complete stranger to her – they have never met in person, and spoke on the phone only once. A bit drastic, I hear you say. And not very realistic. Yes, it is, and no, it isn’t. Desperation calls for drastic action. And this isn’t meant to be a real …

    ConfessionTime

This is Trip Murgatroyd, just as I saw him in my head while writing his story. Blond, well-built, beautiful. That was why I wanted him on the cover for Interview With A Seducer.  He came surfing on the back of Christian Gray, but unlike Christian, Trip wasn’t screwed up by his childhood. He was wholesome, a good South African man with an unusual career. Early reviewers said he detracted from the paranormal theme, and they didn’t like the title ‘Interview With A Seducer’ either.  I don’t know about other authors, but I listen to my readers – that is why I say your opinion is so important to me. I…

    Bridesmaids, Weddings & Honeymoons

Bridesmaids, Weddings & Honeymoons is a fun to read series about what goes on behind the scenes at weddings, and is definitely not to be taken too seriously! Yet, they ooze creep. Normally, the bridesmaid and the best man run off together after the wedding. At weddings, people who haven’t seen each other for a while reconnect, or others to meet new people and to fall in love/lust; some even wake up in the wrong bed the morning after… In Runaway Couple, the bridesmaid and best man have a history, as she had been the victim of his pranks too often growing up. She can’t trust him. In He’s Married, the bride actually marries her…

    Karma, or Kismet, or Fate

I was just wondering how you felt about karma. Or fate, or kismet, or destiny.  Any word that implies pre-destination in the sense that a person doesn’t steer his of her own ship. I mean, a coachman is relied on to get his young passenger to her destination, regardless of the weather or the time of the night. Whether or not he gets her there safely is out of her hands. She has to blindly trust him to get her where she needs to be.  Her karma, or kismet, or fate, whatever you want to call it, is in her coachman’s hands. Read a bit here to see what I mean: https://storyoriginapp.com/giveaways/cbc37928-7b17-11ea-a1aa-5f4ade61dbf4 Finders Keepers An Almost Gothic…
