This week I want to tell you something about my book Finders Keepers, An Almost Gothic Love Affair. You know what the elements of Gothic romance are, right? The Gothic Romance genre draws its name from Gothic architecture, which was creepy at best. These medieval buildings usually sport underground passages, dark battlements, hidden panels, and trapdoors. They are dark and mysterious and scary. A Gothic romance is set in just such a place, which is often haunted. Karma, or Kismet, or Fate
I was just wondering how you felt about karma. Or fate, or kismet, or destiny. Any word that implies pre-destination in the sense that a person doesn’t steer his of her own ship. I mean, a coachman is relied on to get his young passenger to her destination, regardless of the weather or the time of the night. Whether or not he gets her there safely is out of her hands. She has to blindly trust him to get her where she needs to be. Her karma, or kismet, or fate, whatever you want to call it, is in her coachman’s hands. An Almost Gothic Love Affair – What is better that a creepy Gothic tale laced with romance? The classical Gothic novels we have all heard of – Dracula, The mysteries of Udolpho, Rebecca, Frankenstein, and many more – all have a few elements in common. I’ve Done It Again!
I’m Late Again! I don’t believe it, but I have gone and done it again! And it is all down to time management. You see, what happened was, the restaurant I worked for closed down due to the covid fallout. That means I ‘retired’ at the end of January. Not my choice, but there you have it. So far, it’s been great – I tell myself daily that I am on vacation. So, I dawdle and read a book instead of getting on with what I need to do.
