Holiday
I am sooo excited! Next week Tuesday, 2 Aungust, my husband and I are going for a 2 week holiday to beautiful Cape Town and the Winelands. My next 2 newsletters will come to you from there. I will be visiting all the places mentioned in my books, take many photos, and in general behave like a tourist. Cape Town is in a winter rainfall area, so we’re hoping for pleasant weather – not that anything will put me off, except when we’re going up Table Mountain in the cable car. For that one day I ask, please, please, please, not too much wind! But, does an author ever really take…

A Feelgood Friday Story – S’true’s-bob
Able Seaman Just Nuisance R.N. Yay! Friday at last! I thought we could end the week with a real “ghost” story and I hope you enjoy this one as much as I have. One “person” who should be haunting Simon’s Town, but who by all accounts aren’t, is Able Seaman Just Nuisance, R.N. This is a great story I stumbled across while looking for Simon’s Town’s resident ghosts. I wouldn’t mind bumping into this fellow on a dark and stormy night! Born on April’s Fool Day 1937 in Rondebosch, Cape Town, South Africa, this Great Dane pup was sold to Benjamin Chaney, who moved to Simon’s Town to run the…

He’s Married
Eloise had the wedding of her dreams—all arranged and finalized within a month. Now that the wedding night was upon her, her fears reared their ugly heads. Dane, her new husband was really a stranger to her. In hindsight, Eloise realized she shouldn’t have insisted they wait for their wedding night to have sex. It wasn’t that she was inordinately traditional, only that Dane should have been given a choice in the matter. Because Eloise had a secret. Dane and Eloise left for the beautiful Maldives on a two week honeymoon. In this idyllic setting, life threw her a curve ball. Because Dane had a secret, too. She would have…

Runaway Couple
Relaunch 3 March 2016 It is said that the maid of honor and the best man are the most likely to have sex on a wedding night. Add a love-hate relationship and throw a couple of ghosts into the mix, and you have the runaway couple. Eloise chose a Gothic themed wedding for her and Dane, complete with remote setting, flickering candles, flaming torches and shadows, all geared toward scaring the guests. The stormy weather and swirling mists were a bonus. But the person most scared is the maid of honor, the bride’s elder sister, Piper. She didn’t do creep. Added to that, she’s been lumped together with Marcus, the…

Wacky Weddings – the search continues
How popular are themed weddings really? In my book, The Run-Away Couple, the wedding is a Gothic theme, and I asked the question how popular wacky wedding themes really are. All weddings have a theme, ranging from ‘Country’ to ‘Vineyards’ and these have to do with the color schemes, types of flowers, style of wedding dress etc. But what about more weird themes? In a previous post we had a few weird ones, including a very classy Gothic wedding. But I still haven’t found the ultimate wacky wedding. So I continued searching. And this was what I found. Here are 60 wacky wedding ideas that range from nude nuptials to…
